The Tibbs

Created in 2012 in Amsterdam, the Tibbs had been among the later on additions towards the well-established Euro soul/funk revival that went parallel using the U.S. picture led by Daptone Information et al because the early 2000s. Fronted by effective vocalist Elsa Bekman, the music group were composed of North spirit and funk followers Henk Kemkes (acoustic guitar), Michael Willemsen (bass), Paul Jonker (body organ), Berd Ruttenberg (baritone sax), Coen de Vries (tenor sax), Siebe Posthuma de Boer (trumpet), and Bas de Vries (drums). In July 2014, the Tibbs released the EP WASHED, which presented four self-penned songs along with two addresses, including ? & the Mysterians’ “96 Tears.” This is followed two months later from the Footprints in the Fine sand single issued around the Munich-based spirit/funk label Tramp Information. 2016 saw the discharge of octet’s debut long-player, Takin’ Over, on Record Kicks. It had been made by Paul Willemsen (Zuco 103 and fellow Dutch funksters Lefties Spirit Connection). The recording presented a cover of Ike & Tina’s “Cussin’ Cryin’ and Carryin’ On” and was accompanied by the single launch of Dog Times in July 2016.
