The Sunday Reeds

Much like Vivian Women and Dum Dum Women, the Sunday Reeds take their cue from nocturnal, reverb-kissed sound pop and shoegaze works of the past due ’80s and early ’90s, particularly groupings like Dark Tambourine, the Jesus and Mary String, and Pleasure Division. Naming their group after a well-known Australian patron from the arts, Romana Ashton (vocals, bass) and Drew Jones (electric guitar) shaped the Weekend Reeds in Melbourne, Australia in 2008. Drummer Andy Dawson became a member of the group in ’09 2009 to circular out its live audio. The Weekend Reeds’ debut full-length, Drowning ever sold, premiered on Squirrel Information in ’09 2009. The recording enjoyed a little bit of buzz and radio perform in Australia rigtht after its release, as well as the music group embarked on trips both in its homeland and in the U.K. to get the recording. The Weekend Reeds’ sophomore work, the Dark Rainbows EP, was made by Kramer (whose credits consist of albums by Daniel Johnston and Galaxie 500), and premiered on Squirrel Information in 2011.
