This Liverpool, England-based indie rock-band was formed in 2001 by songwriter Howie Payne (vocals/guitar). Payne experienced originally performed like a single take action before teaming up along with his more youthful sibling Sean Payne (drums), Robbie Stevenson (acoustic guitar) and Martin Campbell (bass) to create the Stands. The quartet performed their 1st gig at Liverpool’s Bandwagon golf club in Dec 2001, and after effectively winning on the regional crowd started casting around for even more live function. The line-up steadily evolved through the pursuing year, along with Payne the center point he was ultimately joined by way of a steady band offering Luke Thomson (acoustic guitar), Dean Ravera (bass), and Steve Pilgrim (drums). The Stands experienced completed a lot of the periods because of their debut record by enough time they agreed upon a recording agreement with Echo Information, with several monitors documented at Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher’s Buckinghamshire studio room. Taking overt motivation in the folk rock design of the Byrds and Bob Dylan, All Years Departing split important opinion when it had been released in early 2004. ‘When This River Rolls Over You’ (originally released as an individual the prior August) was eerily similar to Dylan’s ‘It Ain’t Me Babe’, while ‘The Method She Will’ strayed rather too much into Beatles place for comfort. Nevertheless, there is no denying the attraction and melodic verve of Payne’s magpie songwriting. The quartet’s second record was documented in LA on the Sunset Sound studios. Released in summertime 2005, Horse Fantastic gained good testimonials but its possibilities were scuppered once the Echo label went into financial difficulty. The Stands known as it per day carrying out a tour to market the album.
