Vocalist/guitarist Gordon Deppe and bassist Sandy Horne founded the Spoons in 1979 in Ontario, even though both were even now in senior high school. Afterwards adding drummer Derrick Ross and key pad participant Rob Preuss, the group documented Stick Figure Community in 1981 for Prepared Information. Arias and Symphonies and Talkback implemented within the next two years, but Scott MacDonald and Ian Hendry changed Rob Preuss and Derrick Ross, respectively. The Spoons also added guitarist Colin Cripps for the 1986 record on Anthem known as Bridges over Edges. Two years afterwards, Vertigo Tango premiered.
