Two even more Hickory singles — “A THING THAT You Stated” and “Jack port as well as the Beanstalk” — accompanied by year’s end, and in 1967 the Sparkles documented their masterpiece, “No Friend of Mine,” an incendiary work recognized by Nunn’s snarling electric guitar business lead and Floyd’s incredibly anguished vocal. (The tune was afterwards immortalized via addition in the initial Nuggets box established.) After one last Hickory one, “Hipsville 29 B.C.,” Nunn and Holt quit the music group, and Floyd, Smith, and Marriot immediately after relocated to California, rechristening the music group the Pearly Gate.
