The Society of Rockets

Rising through the ashes of the favorite Bay Area lo-fi psychedelic collective the Shimmer Babies Underpop Association, the newly minted Culture of Rockets mix indie rock and roll, folk, and nation right into a reverb-heavy design of chamber folk that tips its head wear to functions as diverse as Galaxie 500, the Jesus and Mary String, and Gram Parsons. Led by vocalist/songwriter Joshua Babcock, the culture includes Robin Wageman, Mike Evans, David Isbister, Lorelei David, Adam Dobrer, Justin Walsh, David Dunstan, and Steve Wertheim, most of whom are multi-instrumentalists. Their debut documenting, Sunset Homes, premiered within the Underpop label in 2004.
