The Sight Below

An alias of reclusive Seattle, WA-based manufacturer Rafael Anton Irisarri, the View Below released Glider — a dark ambient techno album seemingly motivated by shoegaze and Wolfgang Voigt in roughly similar measure, featuring layer upon layer of processed electric guitar — in the Ann Arbor, MI, label Ghostly International in November 2008. The established was later used on the highway, with shows at Detroit’s Movement Festival, MUTEK, and Sónar; there have been other live schedules at locations beside Lusine. Previous Slowdive member Simon Scott sometimes joined the View Below on-stage and eventually collaborated in the studio room. The Murmur EP, having a Biosphere remix, implemented in ’09 2009. The full-length EVERYTHING Falls Aside, a full-length even more austere than Glider, premiered this year 2010 and included a solemn cover of Pleasure Division’s “New Dawn Fades.”
