The Shondes

The Shondes (pronounced Shahn-duhs) certainly are a four-piece indie rock and roll group based from the western Brooklyn neighborhood of Recreation area Slope. They rock and roll a unique audio that combines ’90s queercore and riot grrrl power with traditional Jewish music and dramatic, wealthy vocals. It is the audio of distortion, melody, feminism, and sociopolitical problems being combined and pumped passionately out of cranked-up amps, and it gained the group evaluations to Sleater-Kinney and additional likeminded functions. Guitarist/vocalist Ian Brannigan, violinist/vocalist Elijah Oberman, and bassist/vocalist Louisa Rachel Solomon all fulfilled while their studies at Manhattan’s New College, and they found drummer/vocalist Temim Fruchter while protesting the 2004 Republican Country wide Convention in NEW YORK. By 2006, the four got shaped the Shondes, acquiring their name through the Yiddish term for “pity” or “disgrace.” The band’s live show was a big section of its lifestyle from in early stages; the group got part in celebrations like Canada’s North by Northeast and Olympia, WA’s Homo A CHANCE Go, furthermore to crossing phases with organizations like Electrelane, Joe Lally (of Fugazi popularity), Erase Errata, as well as the Saints. The Shondes self-released their debut recording, The Red Ocean, in early January 2008, that was documented at Brooklyn’s Studio room G with Pere Ubu’s Tony Maimone in the settings. In November 2008, Brannigan remaining the band to become changed by guitarist Fureigh. My Dear One adopted this year 2010.
