The Sherwoods

It?s likely that that if you don’t come from the region around Corpus Christi, Tx or surely got to hear among their two singles on Smash recorded in 1969, you’ve never heard about the Sherwoods. These were a quintet who produced some sound during 1968-69, enough to obtain agreed upon by Mercury Information but not to obtain noticed once their public records started developing. The Sherwoods had been Michael Claxton (lead and support vocals), Johnny Clary (drums, lead and support vocals), David Franklin (lead and tempo guitar, support vocals), Jim Frye (lead and tempo guitar, support vocals), and Kenny Blanchet (bass). Essentially a psychedelic punk clothing, not too much removed from famous brands the Shifting Sidewalks (offering Billy Gibbons) as well as the Thirteenth Flooring Elevators, their music highlighted lots of expanded jams on electric guitar and alternately spaced-out, languid vocals and intense, R&B-inspired parts. Their concert events were evidently spectacular, since it was one particular functionality in Austin that got them agreed upon by Mercury, but just two of the three singles they cut had been ever released, to no achievement. After 2 yrs jointly, the group split up in early 1970 amid personal complications and associates’ issues with the Vietnam-era draft.
