The Sequence

The Series hailed from Columbia, SC, and contains Angie Brown Rock, Cheryl Make, and Gwendolyn Chisolm. Documenting for Joe & Sylvia Robinson’s Sugarhill Information label, they strike with “Funk You Up” in early 1980; “Cool Sound (Rip the Roof Off),” a remake of Parliament’s 1976 platinum single “Rip the Roof From the Sucker” in summertime 1981; and “I Don’t Require Your Like (Component One)” from springtime 1982. Their two charting LPs had been both entitled The Series. Angie Rock sang business lead on Vertical Hold’s 1993 Best Twenty R&B strike “Seems You’re WAY TOO Busy” and got a gold one with “THERE IS NO More Rain within this Cloud” from her 1999 yellow metal album Black Gemstone.
