The Sammies

Lively NEW YORK rock & roll quartet the Sammies feature members using the stage names of Frank Backgammon (guitars, vocals), Donnie Yale (drums, vocals, and brother of Backgammon), Gymmy Thunderbird (bass), and Bobby Freedom (guitar, and alternative to Murphy Upshaw). The Sammies agreed upon on with regional label MoRisen, which released their debut self-titled record, made by John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr., the Breeders), in June 2006. Afterwards that calendar year, the band’s music managed to get onto the soundtrack for the film Employee from the Month. The film Gladly N’Ever After also utilized a track in the Sammies, as well as other songs resulted in on it series Friday Evening Lights and NEVADA. For the group’s second record, Sandwich, released on Sept 23, 2008, Gymmy Thunderbird was changed by another pseudonymous bassist, Conrad Holiday.
