The Sad Song Co.

The Sad Track Co. may be the single task of Oxford-based vocalist, songwriter, maker, and multi-instrumentalist Nigel Powell. Though known for his later on function drumming for Frank Turner & the Sleeping Souls and Dive Dive, Powell primarily launched his profession in the past due ’90s with alt-rock clothing Amazing Truth. When frontman Andy Yorke (sibling of Radiohead’s Thom Yorke) departed that music group in 2000, Powell begun to record the tracks he’d been composing for them beneath the Sad Tune Co. banner, ultimately producing his debut in 2003 with Miseryguts. Nearly as unpleasant as the name indicate, the Sad Tune Co. shown a thoughtful, somewhat progressive pop design that became even more warmly sentimental than unhappy on the 2007 follow-up Poignant Gadget. Though largely the task of Powell, previous Amazing Truth bassist Jason Moulster provides acted as sort of silent partner in the task. Powell continuing to drum for Turner and Dive Dive, aswell as producing many other acts, in to the early 2010s, coming back to get a third Sad Tune Co. LP in 2016 with In Amber.
