Biography
The Russian Futurists (aka one-man indie pop orchestra Matthew Adam Hart) produce lo-fi bedroom recording into an art. Hart, who comes from eastern Ontario, Canada, drew rave testimonials, in addition to evaluations to Magnetic Areas as well as the Flaming Lip area, for his 2001 debut record, THE TECHNIQUE of Modern Like, and won supporters such as for example R.E.M.’s Peter Buck and previous Blur guitarist Graham Coxon along the way. Hart’s capability to make the least expensive production quality audio lush and expansive was place to the check on 2003’s Let’s PREPARE YOURSELF to Crumble, which he documented for under $100. Although Russian Futurists continued to be a one-man affair within the studio room/bedroom, Hart fleshed out the task into a complete touring music group in 2004, playing schedules within the U.S., Spain, and Canada, like the Primavera Audio and Pop Montreal celebrations. Hart finished the 3rd Russian Futurists record, Our Thickness, past due that year. It had been released in springtime 2005 by Top Class Information. Despite a reliable growth in reputation, these albums weren’t released beyond North America, therefore the decision was taken up to select the most effective monitors from all three and compile them into one collection, Me, Myself and Rye, released in August 2006 with the U.K. label Memphis Sectors. Like the standout monitor and one “Paul Simon,” this anthology afforded a fantastic summary of the musician. After a longer hiatus, Hart came back with the record The Weight’s over the Tires in November of 2010.
