The Rockingbirds

The Rockingbirds were an anomaly, a Uk country-rock band around the hip Heavenly label whose peak activity unfortunately coincided using the fallow period between your roots-rock movement from the 1980s as well as the “No Depression” resurgence from the mid-’90s. Created in London in 1990, the Rockingbirds had been founded by vocalist/songwriter Alan Tyler, vocalist/tambourine participant Sean Reed guitarist Andy Hackett, pedal metal guitarist Patrick Arbuthnot, bassist Dave Goulding and previous Weather conditions Prophets drummer Dave Morgan. The achievement of their debut singles “AN EXCELLENT Day for you personally” and “Jonathan, Jonathan” (a tribute to Jonathan Richman) resulted in the discharge of their 1992 eponymous debut, which gained a warm crucial response but fulfilled with commercial failing. A cover of Best Stated Fred’s “Deeply Dippy,” released with an EP of Fred addresses documented with Heavenly labelmates Saint Etienne and Flowered Up, garnered some airplay, but a following EP, Rockingbirds R Us, also stiffed. After 1995’s oft-delayed but exceptional Whatever Happened towards the Rockingbirds fulfilled a similar destiny, the group disbanded.
