The Rising Tydes

Philadelphia garage music group the Growing Tydes was formed in 1965 by vocalist Ed Murray, guitarists Ray Rudnitskas and Mike Bell, bassist Mike Frederick, and drummer Dave Snyder. Called honoring the Rolling Rocks’ strikes collection Great Tide and Green Lawn, the band’s account swelled to six using the 1966 addition of keyboardist Bob Derer — drummer Ronnie Sperling changed Snyder afterwards that same calendar year. Following a group of battle-of-the-bands contests, the Increasing Tydes documented their lone one, “Artificial Tranquility”/”Don’t Wish You Around,” at Philadelphia’s Audio Plus Studios in 1967, marketing its discharge via local tv performances and radio-sponsored dances. Keyboardist Costs Byer changed Derer afterwards that year, with the top of their regional fame, the Increasing Tydes appeared on the initial city-sponsored rock present ever kept in Philadelphia. In early 1968, Frederick volunteered for Surroundings Force duty, as well as the music group steadily splintered. Both edges from the “Artificial Tranquility” single had been later reissued over the Crude PA, Vol. 2 compilation.
