The Resurrection Sorrow

NY City’s the Resurrection Sorrow sign up to an intentionally organic eyesight of heavy metal’s common music trademarks, adorned with stoner and sludge accents. Made in the middle-2000s by frontman Alex Dementia (ex-After Dark), bassist/guitarist Alex Coelho (Tides Within, ex-Malstrom), and drummer Louie Gasparro (Murphy’s Laws, Blitzspeer, etc.), the group’s 2009 debut record, Hour from the Wolf, showcased occult-laced lyrics choked out by hoarse vocals, grime-covered guitars not really averse to copious melodies, and a robust, obviously all analog tempo section. Zak Gross was recruited to try out lead guitar quickly prior to the album’s documenting, enabling Coelho to dominate the bass electric guitar permanently, which lineup proceeded to record a follow-up EP in 2011 entitled The Scorpion Savior Periods.
