The Reputation

Using its intelligent, nouveau-feminist lyrics and timely riffery, Elizabeth Elmore’s mid-’90s Champaign, OH, outfit Sarge seemed ever for the verge of breaking through, but could never quite reach the success its critical raves indicate. Elmore dissolved the music group in 1999 to review litigation at Northwestern Rules, but 2 yrs later the rock and roll bug bit once again and she recruited guitarist Shawn Hewitt, bassist Joel Main, along with a parade of drummers to create the Popularity. The Reputation under no circumstances veered definately not the formulation of her previous band, apart from probably slightly softer sides. Elmore’s melodic, hyper-hooky indie power rock and roll still teemed with flawed, completely shaped anti-heroes and heroines on verge of multiple breakdowns, and tales peppered with polysyllabic phrases tossed-off nimbly, under no circumstances for show. Sadly, also much like her former music group, the act’s pursuing lagged behind its positive important reception. After two LPs, a good, but simple self-titled debut on Preliminary Information in 2002 as well as the darker, even more diverse To Power a Destiny in 2004 on Lookout!, Elmore submitted from the demise from the Reputation for the band’s website.
