The Pyramids

One of the R&B vocal organizations to record because the Pyramids, this specific combo formed in New Haven, CT, in 1955. Based on Marv Goldberg’s profile within the July 1997 problem of Discoveries, founding people Joe Stallings (tenor business lead), Hubert Saulsbury (initial tenor), Roland Douglas, Jr. (baritone), and Richard Foster (bass) fulfilled within the choir from the Support Zion Seventh Time Adventist Church, originally singing just gospel but shortly adding secular materials with their repertoire. Initially contacting themselves the Four Network marketing leads, the quartet started performing at home celebrations and amateur showcases across New Haven, providing pop strikes of your day with harmonies within the mold from the Four Freshmen. Soon after renaming themselves the Pyramids (honoring the starting lyric to crowd-pleaser “You Participate in Me”), the group journeyed to NEW YORK to audition for Jay-Dee Information owner Joe Davis, who agreed upon them at that moment. “NO MATTER WHAT,” offering Stallings on business lead, followed in the summertime of 1956, but as the Pyramids backed the disk with an East Coastline tour headlined by an appearance on the famed Apollo Movie theater, it nevertheless didn’t chart, as well as the same destiny befell the follow-up, “Why Do YOU DECIDE TO GO?” Foster still left the group in 1957, and was changed by bass Danny Jackson.
