The Prids

A Portland, Oregon-based neo-post-punk music group in the custom of Interpol and I REALLY LIKE You But I’ve Particular Darkness, the Prids focus on a moody type of indie rock and roll influenced by ’80s university radio stalwarts just like the Sisters of Mercy and Echo & the Bunnymen, but their gothy doominess is crossed having a committed political point of view large on animal rights and vegan problems, similar to the bands within the Crass collective. The primary from the Prids may be the vocal duo of guitarist David Frederickson and bassist Mistina Keith (aka Tipper), who 1st formed the music group in 1998 while college students at Missouri Traditional western State University or college in St. Joseph. Shifting towards the relatively large town of Lincoln, Nebraska, the Prids added keyboardist Trenor Rapki and drummer Jairus Smith before they debuted with 2000’s Duracraft EP. Resettling just as before towards the indie-boho mecca of Portland, Keith and Frederickson changed Rapki and Smith with keyboardist Eric Keep and drummer Lee Zeman for the 2002 EP Glide, Screamer as well as the 2003 full-length debut Like Zero. Carrying out a couple of 2004 7″ singles for the Luminal label, “Darkness and Darkness” and “IGNORE IT,” the Prids produced another lineup transformation, changing Zeman with Seattle-based drummer Joey Maas. The reconstituted music group signed using the Brooklyn-based indie Five03 Information and released its second full-length, Before World Is Gorgeous, in the summertime of 2006.
