The Ponys

Chicago post-punk revivalists the Ponys formed in early 2001, inaugurated by singer/guitarist Jered Gummere within the months ahead of dissolution of his previous project, regional punk device the Guilty Pleasures. He started writing and performing with partner and bassist Melissa Elias, and after adding previous Mushuganas drummer Nathan Jerde, the Ponys started playing the Windy Town membership circuit. The past due 2002 addition of one-time Content Supply vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Ian Adams radically reconfigured the band’s sound, changing their straightforward electric guitar rock via even more idiosyncratic pop melodies and agreements that accounted for the addition of second electric guitar and keyboards. Throughout a tour stay in Memphis, the Ponys documented their debut one, “Therefore Sentimental,” released on the Polluted label in middle-2003; the follow-up, “Wicked Town,” made an appearance on Big Throat by year’s end. After agreeing to some handshake cope with LA label In debt, the Ponys journeyed to Detroit to record their debut full-length with manufacturer Jim Gemstone — the causing Laced with Love implemented in early 2004. Comprehensive touring and important acclaim for the record implemented, and in the summertime of 2004, the music group began focus on their second record, Celebration Castle, that was documented by Steve Albini at his Electric Audio studio room in Chicago. The record was released within the springtime of 2005; several months previously, Ian Adams parted methods with the music group, and Brian Case agreed upon on because the newest person in the Ponys. Matador found the music group immediately after, and in 2006 the Ponys discovered themselves back the studio documenting their third record, Turn the Lighting Out, that was released the next year.
