Portland, OR-based emo-pop combo the Pinehurst Children began in 1995 like a duo teaming vocalist/guitarist Joe Davis and drummer Robler Kind, who previously collaborated within the group Five Occasions Fast; called after Davis’ hometown of Pinehurst, Identification — a locale notorious for the high degrees of toxic business lead contaminating its environment — the lineup quickly expanded to some three-piece with the help of bassist Cal Gates (sibling of Spinnanes frontwoman Rebecca), and in 1997 self-released their debut LP, Minnesota Resort. Chicago indie 4-Security alarm Records quickly reissued the recording, and after adding second guitarist Gene Pool, the Pinehurst Children hit the street; after a 12 months of considerable touring, Pool remaining the music group and the rest of the trio returned towards the studio room to record their sophomore work, Viewmaster, which 4-Security alarm proceeded to take a seat on for over per year before finally launching the record in early 2000. Within the interim, Kind still left the group and was changed by drummer Marnie Martin; the next addition of second guitarist Devin Morrow restored the roster to some quartet. The indie rock and roll stylings of Bleed It Dry out appeared in springtime 2001.
