The Other Quartet

Originally formed in 1996 in NEW YORK, another Quartet focuses on a method of jazz that alternates between your notated as well as the improvised, and it is never dull. Made up of people Ohad Talmor (tenor and soprano saxophones), Russ Johnson (trumpet), Jim Hershman (electric guitar), and Michael Sarin (drums and percussion), the group has original compositions in addition to re-tooled tracks by such renowned composers as Igor Stravinsky, Anton Bruckner, and Elliot Carter. So far, another Quartet provides released a set of recordings in the Knitting Manufacturer label — 1999’s 13 Parts and 2001’s Audio Stains — and also have been linked some way with such modern-day trailblazers as John Zorn, Marc Ribot, as well as the Jazz People, among others.
