The Ospreys

East Harlem, NY-based R&B group the Ospreys shaped in 1955. Relating to Marv Goldberg’s profile in the Dec 1977 problem of Yesterday’s Remembrances, their lineup — business lead Robert Council, 1st tenor Maurice Williams, second tenor Jackson Thompson, and bass John Miro — displayed some sort of community supergroup assembling the very best voices from four additional combos. The 1st act displayed by Wayne A. Dailey, later on a prominent NEW YORK R&B supervisor, the Ospreys constructed a devoted group of fans at regional record hops and teenager Television showcases, and in middle-1957 authorized to Atlantic Information, also home to some other Dailey take action, the Bobbettes. “Perform You Wanna Leap Children” adopted on Atlantic’s East-West imprint in the springtime of 1958, around once they supported Chuck Willis on his posthumous smash “What Am I Living For.” Atlantic dropped to release another Ospreys single, nevertheless, and in 1959 the group dissolved; Miro afterwards resurfaced in the Lincolns, performing lead on the lone Mercury work, “Baby I WANT TO Appreciate You.”
