The Nocturnes were a second-wave Birmingham pop/psychedelic outfit, organized longer following the Move and in the shadow of acts just like the Idle Competition by drummer Ross Mitchell. They could have already been as obscure as their EMI labelmates the Lemon Tree, but also for the current presence of long term Renaissance bassist/guitarist John Camp (better referred to as Jon Camp) within their lineup. These were authorized to EMI-Columbia in 1967 and slice two LPs, Nocturnes and Desired Alive, around 1968, plus a brace of singles; non-e of the charted regardless of the group’s alluring and pleasantly upbeat psychedelic audio, that was also versatile enough to allow them to cover tunes like the Drifters’ “Save the final Dance for me personally.” Furthermore to Camp, who continued to an effective career with the next incarnation of Renaissance, vocalist Eve Eden, better referred to as Eve Graham, was consequently an associate of the brand new Seekers.
