The New Year

After a few years of relax that followed the finish of Texan slowcore kings Bedhead, brothers and guitarists Matt and Bubba Kadane formed the brand new Year, a logical extension of their previous band, along with Bedhead fill-in guitarist Peter Schmidt, former Arrive drummer Chris Brokaw, and bassist Mike Donofrio. After sporadic gigging (touring was among the known reasons for Bedhead’s separation), they documented Newness Leads to Chicago during past due 2000 with Steve Albini. Keeping Bedhead’s raw strength and atmosphere, Newness Ends (released in early 2001 on Contact & Proceed) prolonged upon the tempo variant that had just bubbled to the top on their last record. Keeping a reliable lineup, the music group worked well at a suitably sluggish and steady speed, releasing THE FINISH Is Near in-may of 2004 and THE BRAND NEW Year during Sept of 2008. Following the second option LP’s launch, the task was placed on the backburner, using the Kadane brothers collaborating with David Bazan and can Johnson in Abroad. They came back in early 2017 with an individual, “Recent Background,” which heralded the Apr release of the brand new Year’s long-awaited 4th studio recording, Snow.
