The Need

Olympia, WA experimental pop duo the necessity teamed vocalist/drummer Rachel Carns (formerly of Kicking Large) and guitarist/bassist Radio Sloan. Debuting in 1996 having a contribution towards the Destination compilation, the necessity issued some seven-inches on brands including Kill Rock and roll Celebrities and Outpunk ahead of liberating a self-titled full-length on Chainsaw in 1997; even more compilation appeances preceded the looks of the sophomore work, 2000’s THE NECESSITY Is Deceased. That same 12 months Carns and Sloan also co-wrote the indie rock and roll opera The Transfused — first performed at Olympia’s Capitol Theatre, its soundtrack was also released on Yo Yo. 2000 discovered the Need occupied touring European countries and THE UNITED STATES with Blonde Redhead and focusing on a split solitary with Le Tigre
