Beginning like a part task in 1985 for Camper Van Beethoven users Greg Lisher (guitar), Victor Krummenacher (bass), and Chris Pedersen (drums), Monks of Doom became a full-time music group when David Lowery (who also later on formed Cracker) remaining Camper Van Beethoven following a 1989 album Essential Lime Pie.
