The Memphis Pilgrims

The Memphis Pilgrims, led by guitarist, singer and songwriter Michael Falzarano, have one album from the Brooklyn-based Relix Information label. Falzarano is really a name familiar to supporters of Scorching Tuna guitarist Jorma Kaukonen; both frequently perform jointly at coffeehouses and night clubs throughout the U.S. and European countries. Falzarano’s songs show up on the Scorching Tuna albums SOME a Dice Present and Live at Sweetwater. Falzarano in addition has written songs for many of Kaukonen’s single albums, including Property of Heroes and Xmas, both for the American Traditions label. The group has intensely blues-based melodic roots-rock. Associates from the Memphis Pilgrims consist of guitarist Jimmy Eppard, bassist Steve Corrosion, drummer Harvey Sorgen and keyboardist/accordionist Adam Hurwitz. All possess comprehensive backgrounds as sidemen and studio room session music artists. Eppard, located in Woodstock, N.Con., has documented with members from the Music group, the brand new Bohemians, Pete Seeger and Orleans. Eppard can be an achieved lap metal and slide guitarist. Bassist Rust provides performed with jazz flutist Hubert Laws and regulations, Sam and Dave and jazz saxophonist Nick Brignola. Drummer/percussionist Sorgen provides performed and documented with Ahmad Jamal, Costs Frisell, NRBQ, David Torn and Jack port DeJohnette. Keyboardist and accordionist Hurwitz spent some time working with the Music group and Ronnie Hawkins, amongst others. Their debut record, Mecca, blends components of rockabilly, blues and spirit music using the band’s roots-rock bottom.
