The Louis Lester Band

The Louis Lester Music group is an organization made by writer/director Stephen Poliakoff, with music by composer Adrian Johnston, designed for the BBC2 television miniseries Dance on the Advantage, to depict a 1930s-era golf swing music group. The series was afterwards re-broadcast on Showtime. Professional Chiwetel Ejiofor superstars as the pianist and bandleader Lester with a bunch of dark and white music artists. The period of time is certainly significant in Britain because black music artists regularly interested high-society white viewers (like the royal family members) as jazz captured on in Britain. The music performed with the group in the series even more readily shows the early-’40s noises of Duke Ellington’s and Les Brown’s rings than it can the kinetic, solo-centric noises of the even more raucous jazz age group of the past due ’20s and early 30s.
