The Loading Zone

Cosmic R&B combo the Loading Zone was shaped in Oakland, CA, in 1967 by singer/keyboardist Paul Fauerso following dissolution of his jazz unit, the Tom Paul Trio. After recruiting guitarists Pete Shapiro and Steve Dowler — both past due from the Berkeley psych-rock music group the Marbles — Fauerso enlisted bassist Bob Kridle and drummer George Newcom to circular out the Launching Zone’s first lineup; though rooted in R&B, the group also detoured into psychedelia, jazz, and electrical blues, fittingly plenty of starting for both Cream and YOUR GOVERNMENT & the Keeping Organization at San Francisco’s famous Fillmore.
