Funny the way the most improbable elements sometimes gel right into a startlingly coherent entire. Using Dick Dale-inspired surf-rock as their springboard, California’s Liberty Lads paddled out in to the early waves of psychedelia warbling. The producing masterpiece, “AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF Caring” (Dixon 111), was cut at Sacramento press personality’s Expenses Rase’s studio room in 1965. Hailing from Dixon and Liberty Farms, CA, the group presented George Tomelloso (business lead guitar and vocalist/songwriter), Andy Arguello (acoustic guitar), Mike Mendoza (acoustic guitar), Eddie Williams (bass), and John Lujan (drums).
