The Lears

The Lears were formed in St. Petersburg, FL, in August 1990. Before after that, Dennis Dalcin (vocals/guitars) experienced spent amount of time in LA, where he was included within the fringes from the paisley underground (he previously previously been the guitarist inside a music group called the Tones). Dalcin relocated back again to Florida in 1989, where he fulfilled Paul Mutchler (vocals/12-string Rickenbacker/bass) from the Green Today, a Byrds/R.E.M.-motivated psych-folk band from Orlando. The duo created their 1st group collectively, the Petal Pushers, along with drummer Ken Chiodini, another person in the Green Today, and bass participant Steve Rybka (bass/support vocals/acoustic acoustic guitar). They documented four tunes. After Rybka relocated to NY, Scott Sugiuchi arrived aboard as the brand new bassist. The Lears documented original material, influenced by ’60s folk-rock rings just like the Byrds, Like, as well as the Leaves, that was released on numerous brands as 7″ singles, EPs, and compilation songs obtainable through the buy of fanzines. The Petal Pushers as well as the Green Today ultimately both break up after Mutchler relocated to Clearwater, near Tampa Bay. In 1994, Chiodini and Sugiuchi remaining to pursue their like of garage area revival rock using the Hate Bombs. The Lears continuing on, and in Feb 1995, the music group was reconfigured with two fresh users: drummer Suzy Dozier and bassist Tag Dewey (both had been bandmates in the country-punk music group Psycho From Tx). This edition of the music group lasted for approximately a calendar year. Dozier still left the music group in 1996, and was changed on the part-time basis by Dan Eggelston (Hardly Green). In November 1997, the band’s four-track recordings had been collected for THE STORYPLOT UP TO NOW… and remixed/remastered and released with the Obtain Hip label. The music group has made an appearance on BACK TO WHERE IT STARTED, a double-CD tribute to Gene Clark released by Not really Lame in January 2000. Dalcin can be associated with a jazzy-psychedelic pop aspect project known as Echoes Remain, while Mutchler became involved with another aspect group, the Fondas. Dalcin writes a column, D.D.’s Garage area, for the London-based Bucketful of Brains fanzine.
