The Knights 5+1

Of all rediscoveries in the Justice Records collection, the Knights 5+1 are perhaps one of the most rewarding, a complicated multi-racial rhythm-and-blues sextet with a specialist veneer with their using and three qualified business lead players (Wilfred Wilson on sax, Ronnie Cook on business lead electric guitar, and Bing McCoy over the organ). The Knights 5+1 acquired a great business lead vocalist whose name, alas, hasn’t lasted within the memory to become passed on to us today. These were based in the region around Charlottesville, Virginia, not to mention played a whole lot of night clubs and dances there-this is normally one music group that would’ve been worthy of seeing more often than once, and not simply for r&b background buffs and oldies fans.
