The Killjoys

Birmingham, England-based punk music group the Killjoys grew from the artsier Lucy & the Fans, achieving notoriety for the feisty 1977 one Johnny Won’t Reach Heaven, released on Organic Information. Featuring Kevin Rowland and Heather Tonge on vocals, drummer Joe 45, bassist Jewel, and guitarist Tag Phillips, the band’s lone discharge gained the enthusiastic support of important radio DJ John Peel off, who got the band right down to the BBC studios for just two Peel Periods. The band break up before documenting another solitary; Rowland continued to form the favorite Dexy’s Midnight Joggers, and Jewel banged some mind in Girlschool.
