The Julie Ruin

Originally dubbed a one-off experiment simply by ex-Bikini Wipe out lead singer Kathleen Hanna, Julie Ruin released their self-titled record in the Wipe out Rock and roll Stars label in September 1998, following breakup of Bikini Wipe out in February of this year. Referred to as Hanna’s alter ego, Julie Spoil found where Bikini Wipe out left off, performing of feminism, assault, objectification, juxtaposition, as well as the Valley Female Intelligentsia. Best referred to as lo-fi electronica, Hanna documented and blended the record within the wardrobe of her Olympia, Washington house with Paul Schuster. Julie Spoil didn’t tour to market the record. Hanna after that formed the equivalent task Le Tigre in 1999, but came back to Julie Spoil this year 2010 like a music group task with Carmine Covelli, Sara Landeau, Kathi Wilcox, and Kenny Mellman. The group’s 1st album, Work Fast, made an appearance in Sept 2013 via Dischord Information. The ensemble continued to tour the record but had been forced to prevent their programs as Hanna was fighting Lyme disease. Despite ongoing problems, the music group came back in 2016 with Strike Reset, a commanding record of jagged dance beats and spiky pop that Hanna referred to as being a few of her most personal function to date.
