Before there is a Cocktail Country along with a mania for retro lounge music, Atlanta’s Jody Grind were turning out jazzy renditions of Gershwin, Bacharach and Dusty Springfield numbers, country & western standards and original rock songs that hybridized those forms with alternative music. Vocalist Kelly Hogan recognized the music group (Costs Taft; guitars, Walter Brewer; drums and Robert Hayes; bass) from a variety of substitute groupings, as she was a genuine singer and utilized her beautiful tone of voice to great effect. Long an Atlanta picture preferred, in 1990 DB Information released One Man’s Garbage can be Another Man’s Treasure. Accompanied by the greater experimental Lefty’s Deceiver, the band’s profession was cut brief following a car crash which wiped out two people. Hogan continues to execute as a single work in Atlanta and it has released one record.
