The Jazztet

This group, formed in 1959, was co-led by Benny Golson and Art Farmer, with McCoy Tyner on piano. It survived until 1962 in its initial incarnation, after that resurfaced in 1985 with Farmer and Golson once more on the helm. The group was well-known for effectively structured, precise however soulful parts and a swinging design. Both Golson and Farmer performed without excess, however maintained energy and influence.
