The Jaggerz

Best known for his or her 1970 smash “The Rapper,” the Jaggerz were formed in Pittsburgh through the mid-1960s by vocalist/guitarist Dominic Ierace, guitarist Benny Faiella, bassists Jimmy Ross and Billy Maybray, keyboardist Thom Davies and drummer Jim Pugliano. After generating a fervent pursuing on the neighborhood golf club circuit, the group eventually authorized to Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff’s label Gamble Information to concern their 1969 debut LP Presenting the Jaggerz; when the record tanked, the music group authorized to Kama Sutra for 1970’s We Visited Different Schools Collectively, falling just timid of topping the graphs with “The Rapper.” The one was the Jaggerz’ lone graph hit, however, plus they had been soon decreased to again striking the local membership picture. After one last LP, 1975’s Arrive Once again, the group disbanded; frontman Ierace after that transformed his name to Donnie Iris and became a member of Wild Cherry, credit scoring a significant disco-era strike with “Play that Funky Music” prior to going on to support a solo profession.
