The Hummers

Originally started being a loose collective of friends and fellow musicians, Winnipeg’s Hummers experienced some lineup changes just before buying the band of seven musicians that recorded the first album in 1998. The lineup was different: bassist Joel Klaverkamp originated from the punk-funky Skingerbreadman; Tag Hoeppner performed keyboards using the eclectic Buick 6; guitarist Craig Bjerring from Tangleshack; Jason Banman and Matt Lawrence supplied drums and percussion; classically-trained Paul Durant added a far more out jazz saxophone; and Tyler Sneesby brought his turntables from Plantation Fresh and various other hip hop tasks over the Peanuts and Corn label. The causing audio incorporated components from all their backgrounds, but also for one of the most component the band’s instrumentals combined funk and jazz, with the casual aspect trip into even more experimental place. The music group released three albums called “Pay attention”, each name within a different vocabulary. Following third record, in 2001, Durant and Hoeppner exited the music group, and keyboardist Mike Germain (previously the lead vocalist of Prohibited From Atlantis) became a member of. The lineup modification had not been without consequence; both departing members got with them a number of the organizations even more prog and experimental tendencies, abandoning a more straightforward jazz-funk audio. The revamped group returned into the studio room in 2002 and surfaced with Conserve the Jets.
