The Honeyrods

Friends since youth, guitarist Chris Hunter, drummer Michael Dale and bassist Jeremy Brashears were given birth to and raised in Nashville and was raised listening to a variety of U2, the Beastie Children and Weapons N’ Roses. The three Tennessee natives connected up with Austin, Tx vocalist Gordon Cabaniss and guitarist Matt Clemmons (originally from Muscles Shoals, Alabama) while most of them had been attending university in Nashville. Despite all hailing from cities observed as music centers, the honeyrods’ collective audio bears no resemblance to either nation or Southern blues-rock. Their name, rife with intimate connotations, in fact derives from Hunter’s cousin’s youth name for sunflowers. Equipped with their brand-new name, the music group gigged relentlessly through the entire Southeast region, gaining an intensely devoted fan base making use of their raucous live present. Two self-produced produces — a self-titled 1995 EP as well as the 1996 Cha Cha Cha EP — arranged the stage for the honeyrods’ major-label debut on Capricorn, and an area for the ESPN X-Games Xperience Tour in springtime of 1997. In explaining their audio and band perspective, Cabannis can be quoted as stating, “We’re not attempting to change the entire world or anything like this. We just want a great time and amuse people.”
