The Hepsters was probably one of the most exciting sets of Cleveland Ohio’s doo-wop era. The five fellows met up at East Complex SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL and would practice their harmonies in the universities’ hallways caring the echo results. Their lineup contains Paul Hayes, Carl Youthful, Raymond Harvin, Joe Small Williams, and a 5th member whose name no one remembers. They slice “I HAD DEVELOPED To ENABLE YOU TO Proceed” b/w “Rockin’ And Rollin’ With Santa Claus,” in 1955, and “I Gotta Sing The Blues” b/w “This-A-Way,” in 1956, on Chicago’s Ronel Information. “I HAD DEVELOPED To ENABLE YOU TO Proceed,” was compiled by Caldonia Youthful, a dancer/contortionist who acted as their coach. They distributed the stage using the main recording performers who arrived through town with memorable show coming to the Circle Theatre with Brook Benton. In addition they played Majestic Resort and were masses pleasers like the Temptations who exploded within the picture years later on. Hayes, a bass vocalist, would rip up music like “WHILE I Fall In Like.” Following the two singles didn’t improve their finances they disbanded. Hayes afterwards woodshedded with Paul Williams and Fred Fluellen on the Majestic Resort, the rehearsals generally occurred at nighttime, and Fluellen doesn’t keep in mind Eddie Kendrick ever taking part or getting around. Soon after that Williams and Kendrick, he added the “s” afterwards, made an appearance with Caldonia Youthful, then implemented Milton Jenkins to Detroit, MI attaining fame and lot of money using the Temptations. Williams and Kendricks attempted to obtain Hayes in the Tempts’ if they initial produced but Otis Williams trapped with Melvin Franklin, a fairly good choice I would add. Hayes tragically passed away of gas asphyxiation some years back; Calvin Young transferred to California and was not noticed from since; Joe Small Williams has piano within a cathedral on 55th Road; Harvin still lives in Cleveland, and presumably therefore does the inexplicable unnamed 5th member.
