The Habibiyya

Psychedelic Middle Eastern-infused worldbeat act the Habibiyya shaped in 1972 around group leader Ian Whiteman following the collective returned from a life-changing visit to Morocco the entire year preceding. That religious and musical transformation prompted Whiteman, alongside Conrad and Susan Archuletta, Mike Evans, and Roger Powell, the last mentioned of which had been founding associates of U.K. rock and roll acts the Actions and Mighty Baby, to look at the Sufi beliefs, leading to 1972’s ultra-rare Moroccan psych traditional If Guy But Knew.
