Biography
Created in 1978 by musician and folklorist Mick Maloney, Green Areas of America mixed the stage dance, and vocal and instrumental traditions of Irish America having a revolving cast of musicians and dancers who included Seamus Egan, Eileen Ivers, Marie Reilly, Donny Golden, Jean Butler, Liz Carroll, Jack port Coen and Michael Flatley. The award-winning ensemble was made mainly for concerts and celebrations, though they sometimes launch albums (1989’s Green Areas of America: Reside in Concert and 2009’s Green Areas of America).
