Among the Tx psychedelic ’60s organizations around the legendary International Performers label, most well-known for the 13th Ground Elevators. Actually, the Golden Dawn sounded nearly the same as the Elevators, although their business lead singer experienced a gentler, even more delicate delivery than Roky Erickson. The similarity wasn’t terribly amazing given that business lead vocalist George Kinney experienced developed with Erickson, and got once used him within a pre-Elevators group, the Fugitives. Kinney also performed within the Chelsea, which for a while included 13th Flooring Elevator Powell St. John. The Golden Dawn became an integral part of the International Performers roster using the Elevators’ help. They released a good record in the past due ’60s, Power Vegetable, that (once again, just like the Elevators) highlighted a florid cover, inscrutable liner records, and inscrutable lyrics. George Kinney’s function within the Roky Erickson saga wasn’t completed once the Golden Dawn split up; he financed the publication of Erickson’s reserve, Openers, which helped obtain Roky away from Rusk State Medical center.
