Biography

As you may expect using their name, the Geezinslaws were a music comedy outfit who based their saving profession on barroom-friendly parodies of popular nation songs. These were originally referred to as the Geezinslaw Brothers, but in fact consisted of vocalist/mandolin participant Sammy Allred and vocalist/guitarist Raymond “Child” Smith, who went to high school collectively in Austin, TX. They started carrying out locally, and in 1961 captured their big break if they had been invited to seem on Arthur Godfrey’s strike variety display. That helped result in a record cope with Columbia, which released their first recording, The Kooky Globe of the Geezinslaw Brothers, in 1963; by this time around, they’d relocated to NY permanently. They eventually moved to Capitol and documented four albums for the label between 1966-1969, credit scoring minor strike singles with music like “Chubby (Make sure you Take Your Want to City)” and “You Wouldn’t Place the Shuck on Me.” They continuing to seem on TV range displays, including those of Johnny Carson, Ed Sullivan, and Jackie Gleason, and became regulars on Ralph Emery’s radio plan Pop Goes the united states. The Geezinslaw Brothers basically disappeared through the ’70s, but instantly came back — making use of their name shortened towards the Geezinslaws — in 1986, if they appeared in the Emery-hosted Nashville Today Television show. They came back to documenting in 1989 using the Geezinslaws, released in the THE FIRST STEP label, which blended song parodies with an increase of straight-ahead nation. 1990’s Globe Tour followed an identical design, and 1992’s Feelin’ Great, Gittin’ Up, Gittin’ Down provided them their initial chart one in over 2 decades with “Help, I”m Light and I CANNOT Obtain Down.” They toured a little more frequently through the early ’90s, and released a full-on humor record in 1994 with I Wish I PUT employment to Shove. Another work, Blah…Blah…Blah, followed in 1997, and remains to be the duo’s last album up to now.
