The Gates of Slumber

Although one wouldn’t necessarily assume that Indiana will be the birthplace of the well-tuned doom metallic outfit, perhaps it is important to consider Indiana’s disconnect from all of those other pop market, and perhaps the picture gets just a little clearer. Hailing in the state’s capital, the Gates of Slumber began making the gradual, sludgy, methodical design of steel their loaf of bread and butter around 1998. Led by guitarist and vocalist Karl Simon, the Gates of Slumber — the account curved out by Jason McCash on bass and several drummers, including latest sticksman “Iron” Bob Fouts — released their initial record, The Awakening, on Last Section in 2004. This debut was preceded by several demos and compilation looks, and was accompanied by even more compilations and a set of EPs. In 2006, Gates released their 1st big declaration, the recording Suffer No Guilt, on I Hate Information. The recording brought an enormous response through the metallic press, rating 4 Ks from Kerrang! journal. The majority of 2007 was spent liberating splits and compilation looks, and in 2008 the Gates of Slumber unleashed their following album, Conqueror, that was a joint launch on Profound Lore and I Hate Information.
