The Four Rockets

When Joe Johnson (business lead), Raleigh Tunrage (tenor), Joseph Armstrong (baritone), and Wayne Keels (bass) weren’t building gospel music while the Trumpeteers, these were employed in a decidedly more pop idiom seeing that the 4 Rockets. The Baltimore-spawned quartet cut a set of singles for Aladdin Information around 1948 beneath the Four Rockets name (afterwards shortened towards the Rockets). The initial was “Travelin’ Light” b/w “Small Crimson Wagon”, but their second, “Loch Lomond” b/w “Small Brown Jug”, is just about the better known through even more regular re-releases. The group experienced numerous personnel adjustments during their background, under whichever name these were using.
