The Four Aces


Perhaps one of the most successful pre-rock vocal groupings, the Four Aces did good through the early ’50s having a narrow selection of pop materials but burned out before decade’s end. Founded by Navy shipmates Al Alberts and Dave Mahoney, the work added Lou Silvestri and Sol Vaccaro prior to making a name for themselves around their indigenous Philadelphia. After failing woefully to look for a distributor for his or her debut solitary “(It’s No) Sin,” Alberts founded his personal Victoria label release a the solitary. It became a large strike in past due 1951 and offered a million copies. Authorized to Decca prior to the end of the entire year, their debut solitary for the label, “Inform Me Why,” simply barely missed the very best from the graphs and offered a million copies aswell. Several Top Ten strikes followed through the early ’50s prior to the theme to Three Cash within the Fountain strike number 1 in 1954. Another film theme, “Like Is really a Many-Splendored Thing,” spent over per month at the very top during 1955. For a number of singles during 1955, the group have been billed because the Four Aces Featuring Al Alberts; twelve months later on, he departed to get a solo profession (but never actually reached the graphs). Combined with the rise of rock and roll & move, the Four Aces were doomed. They scraped the graphs having a novelty music (“Bahama Mama”) along with a rock and roll take-off (“Stone Rhapsody”), but didn’t arrive through with any strikes after 1959. Al Alberts continuing to perform in to the ’90s, leading a more recent edition from the act.
