Practitioners from the so-called Gothenburg audio (essentially, death metallic heaviness paired with melody and catchy riffs), the Forsaken followed in the footsteps of Gothenburg pioneers like In the Gates, In Flames, and Dark Tranquility. The group originally created in 1997 beneath the name Septic Breed of dog, with a primary regular membership of guitarists Patrik Persson and Stefan Holm, and drummer Nicke Grabowski. They documented a demo entitled Patterns of Delusive Style, however the lineup didn’t finalize until later on, when vocalist Anders Sjöholm (previously of Ominous and Massgrav) and bassist Michael Håkansson (ex-Evergrey, Embraced) brought a fresh creative spark towards the music group.
