The Folkswingers

An unusual studio room task, the Folkswingers did an album for the Globe Pacific label in 1963, 12 String Electric guitar!, which a pre-stardom Glen Campbell’s 12-string electric guitar playing was supported by three people from the Dillards (Rodney Dillard on electric guitar, Doug Dillard on banjo, and Dean Webb on bass). Although song selection can be a little apparent and commercial-minded — including “EASILY Got a Hammer,” “Walk Best In,” “Midnight Particular,” “Cottonfields,” “Wabash Cannonball,” “Blowing in the Blowing wind,” and “This Teach” — the record swings along pleasantly, with an increase of of a tempo than many folk LPs of the time. The record also performed an indirect unintentional function in the delivery of folk-rock, since it was made by Jim Dickson, who continued to co-manage the Byrds. In understanding of his focus on the record, Dick Bock of Globe Pacific provided Dickson free studio room period, which Dickson utilized to rehearse and record studio room material with the Byrds because they were understanding how to play electrical folk-rock. That studio room time was very helpful to producing the Byrds a tighter device by enough time they started producing official recordings.
